8bit pixellated sunglasses
So with the 80s look back in full force whether we like it or not, someone has decided to mix what was great about the 80s (it was really all about the video games wasn’t it?) and the fluro colours and turn them into very fashionable sunglasses.
Samal Design has created the 6dpi frames in a range of colours that is perfect for the next music festival you might be heading to, or retro video game convention. Whilst we normally frown at wearing sunglasses indoors – don’t worry because there are transparent options as well. So even in the library or the computer lab at your favourite learning insitution, you can look uber hipster/nerd/fashionable all at the same time.

This is my wallet that I bought
Now we know that these might seem a bit dated or played out, but after seeing a couple of friends with them, I decided that I needed to get one before I got left behind. However, I didn’t want just any type, I wanted a really funky cool one (obviously). I shopped around and found one with the imprint of a Fender guitar at just the right price so I snapped it up.
Now for those of you that do not know about Flip Wallets, basically they hold cash note money, business cards, dockets/receipts, etc in between two hard, leather wrapped pieces of material by the use of specially designed elastics.
What this results in is by simply putting your notes and slips inside the wallet, then closing it, it tucks it in underneath the bands – safe as a bank… (sorry I couldn’t help it).
What puzzled me though is how the maths and geometry actually works. The best I could find is this wiki link on Flexagons. It talks about some relatively simple maths to produce the illusion that is easily replicated in some magic tricks.
What I failed to find is exactly who is the guy that took the idea and put it into fashion. If you could let us know in the comments I would love to track it down!
